Strengthening Haiti’s Small Designers Through Capacity Development, Business Coaching and Grant Funding

On February 20, 2019, the USAID Local Enterprise and Value Chain Enhancement (LEVE) project awarded a partner Contribution grant of $39,370 to Créations Dorées, a firm specializing in the production and sales of women’s accessories.

Located in Port-au-Prince, Créations Dorées is a woman-owned sole proprietorship created in 2011 producing and selling sandals, jewelry and bags for women.

Whereas their manufacturing facility is in Nazon, their boutique is located in Pétion-Ville. Additionally, they have inventory available through several souvenir and tourists shops, such as Galerie Marassa, Lakou Lakay and Kay Artizan.

Créations Dorées products are sold online via their web site and they have just engaged a US-based representative to market their products in the US, which has led some early success. Currently their products are found in five locations throughout southern Florida. Créations Dorées currently sells all of its production and as a result it has embarked on an expansion plan.

The objective of the LEVE support is to help fund the expansion which will require additional equipment, raw materials and electrical generation capacity.

LEVE’s support will include grant funding, capacity development, most notably back-office support and business coaching. Through this expansion, Créations Dorées will be hiring seven additional full time employees, expects to increase its sales by 30% locally and 200% internationally and will be investing $ 24,000 in raw materials.
